Friends of the Library Make A Real Difference!
Did you know that many of the programs offered at the library are paid for by the Friends? The Friends are a group of community members who raise money to provide programs and to purchase items for the library collection which surpass the library’s annual budget. Without the Friends, many of the annual events that you and your children participate in would not be offered. Friends sponsored activities include:
- Many of the programs and prizes for the Library’s Summer Reading Program
- The Young Authors program
- Speakers for educational and entertaining programs for adults and children throughout the year
The Friends is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that raises funds through its spring and fall book and bake sales, and from members’ dues. Many of the Friends volunteer their time in the weeks surrounding the book sales, and the Friends are always seeking individuals who can contribute a few hours to help with activities such as sorting books, setting up and dismantling the book sale, working a shift on one of the sale days, and/ or baking. However, even if you do not have time to spare, you can still be a Friend and support the library through your tax-deductible membership dues. All Friends members can feel the satisfaction knowing that they have helped the library, and all Friends members are invited to the exclusive pre-sale evening before the book sales open to the general public. Business members will also receive recognition for their participation at all Friends sponsored events.
