2019 Summer Reading Program

The MLNV 2019 Summer Reading Program runs from June 17th to August 10th

What is Summer Reading? It is a summer program designed to encourage people of all ages to read for fun during the summer. This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories.” The program consists of a series of fun events and reading challenges. We have reading challenges for adults, teens, and kids; each with opportunities for prizes! How do you get the chance to win these prizes and rewards?

Kids’ Reading Challenge:

Children register for the summer-long program, check out books on their library card, and start reading! Children track the minutes they read, and kids earn prizes! Print out a tally sheet here. All you need to participate in the reading challenge is a current library card. Each time a child returns books to the library during a given week, he or she earns a ticket for that week’s raffle prize. At the end of the summer reading program, all children who finish the program will be entered in a drawing for several larger prizes. These prizes include a family pack for Becky’s Drive-In, a gift card for the Crayola Experience, and a family gift card for Knoebels!

Teen Reading Challenge:

This year, we’ll be raffling off 8 gift cards, each worth $15.00, to Regal Cinemas, GameStop, Target, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Starbucks, iTunes, and Kohl’s. The more books you read, the greater your chance of winning! The teen challenge is for patrons who have finished sixth grade to twelfth grade. To participate use YOUR library card to check out and read as many books as you can between June 17 and August 10th. Pick up a book tally sheet at the main library desk beginning on June 17 or print out a tally sheet here. Track the books you read on your tally sheet. Bring your tally sheet to the library, and we’ll give you a raffle ticket for each book you read, and you can choose which gift card you want to enter to win! At the end of the summer, all raffle tickets will be re-entered to win one of our four themed raffle baskets: a movie basket, a gaming basket, a book club basket, and a summer basket.

Adult Reading Challenge

Adults should have some summer reading fun at the library, too! Each book you read this summer earns you a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of several prizes. This year, we’ll be raffling off 8 gift cards, each worth $10.00, to Birthright Brewery, Smooch, Emily’s Ice Cream, Calandra’s, Zanette’s, Sweet & Savory, Stonewood Tavern, and Cherry Hill Hotel. Join our summer reading program by registering at the Main Circulation Desk and start earning chances to win, beginning June 17. Use your library card to check out and read as many books as you can between June 17th and August 10th. Pick up a book tally sheet at the main library desk beginning on June 12 or print out a tally sheet here. Track the books you read on your tally sheet. Bring your tally sheet to the library, and we’ll give you a raffle ticket for each book you read, and you can choose which raffle basket you want to enter to win!
