Technology Collections

The MLNV boasts a variety of technology and equipment available for in-house use and take-home checkout. See below for details on what is offered.

Wi-Fi Hotspots

A number of wi-fi hotspots are available for checkout to MLNV patrons. These hotspots circulate for 1 week, with 1 possible renewal. They are not holdable and are only available on a first come, first serve basis. Borrowers must be 18 years or older and have no penalties on their library card. Borrowers must sign an agreement form when checking out a hotspot for the first time, and agree to become financially responsible for any damages that may occur while the hotspot is checked out.

Five hotspots circulate during the regular year, with five additional hotspots being added to circulation during the summer months.

Electronic Magnifiers

Two electronic magnifiers are available for patron use, with one being available for checkout. These magnifiers can be used as a high-powered, digital magnifying glass to assist patrons with viewing small or blurry text and images. The magnifier can circulate for 2 weeks with no renewals. It is not holdable. The in-house use magnifier may be used by any person within the library building, but must be returned by end of day.

Disc Players

DVD Player

A portable DVD layer is available for checkout at the front desk. It circulates under the same rules as DVDs, being available for 1 week checkout with 1 potential for renewal. The DVD player is not holdable. It comes with the player, charger, and carrying case.

CD Player

A portable CD player is available for checkout for use with CD audiobooks from the MLNV’s collection. It circulates for the same period as audiobooks, being available for 2 week checkout with 3 potential renewals. The player comes with a charging cord, AUX cord, and Bluetooth and corded earphone capabilities.
