Come Out and Play
Kids age 2-12 who sign-up for Summer Reading will receive an eight-week tracker bingo board. This board is filled with weekly reading challenges and other fun activities for readers to accomplish on their own or with the help of a trusted adult. Each week, complete at least eight challenges on the board and bring it into the library to earn one Wild Buck, a currency that can be redeemed at the MLNV Wild Mart. Kids cannot work ahead on the weeks, but they may work back and complete challenges from previous weeks. Save up Wild Bucks over the Summer to buy cool prizes at our Wild Mart. Weekly raffles and Garden Gnome Challenges will also be available in the Children’s Department, so stop by to try and earn even more cool prizes!
The Spirit of Adventure
Teens:
Teens aged 12-18 who sign-up for Summer Reading will receive a reading tracker and challenge sheet to record the books they read over the eight-week program. For each book read, recorded, and signed-off by a library staff member, participants will earn one raffle ticket that they can put toward any one of our four raffle baskets: Comics & Pop Culture, Arts & Crafts, Get Lit Reading!, and Gaming. For every four books read, participants can pick one cool prize from our prize bucket, including keychains, fun pens, squishies, and more! Teen participants can also accomplish the reading challenges on the back of the tracker, to earn one additional raffle ticket per challenge. Plus, stop into the Teen Room for a Summer-long scavenger hunt and Makerspace crafting!
Adults:
Adults ages 19+ who sign-up for Summer Reading will receive a reading tracker to record every book they read over the eight-week challenge period. For each book recorded and sign-off by a library staff member, they’ll receive a raffle ticket toward one of our six baskets or book bundles: Self Care, Wawa, Beach Reads, Modern Romance, Modern Holiday Romance, and Thriller/Suspense. For every four books, participants can pick a cool prizes from our prize bucket, including squishies, magnetic bookmarks, keychains, and more!
