Summer Reading 2026 is not just for kids! Teens ages 12-18 and adults age 18+ can sign up at the front desk starting June 1, 2026 to participate in Unearth a Story. They will receive a sheet to track their reading progress, with small prizes and raffle tickets awarded as they meet reading goals or complete certain challenges.
Programs for Teens
Teen Time Capsule – June 15, 3:30 PM
Teens should bring in a meaningful, non-perishable object that you feel either represents yourself or the culture in 2026. There will also be a sheet to fill out with information about how you see yourself right now and what you hope for the future. These objects will be placed in a time capsule to be opened in 10 years, when you are established adults. For teens ages 12-18. Please make sure your object is less that 6x6x6″ and light weight. No registration. This program is to celebrate America 250.
Library Archeological Dig for Teens – June 19, 2-4 PM
Follow a mysterious map of an ancient archaeological site (aka the library with a twist), and solve clues to discover what’s hidden. Part escape room, part craft, part scavenger hunt. Reconstruct pottery, decipher ancient languages, and more in this fun team program. Prizes awarded if you complete in time! Teens ages 12-18, registration required. Register
Animal Crossing Brewster’s Cafe and Gyroid Craft – July 24, 1-3:30 PM
Let’s hang out in everyone’s favorite museum cafe – Brewster’s The Roost. Bring your Switch to play some Animal Crossing if you want, but we’ll have coffee and tea to drink as we make a fun gyroid planters and paint some “fossils!” All materials provided, registration required. For ages 12-18, and yes, there will be decaf available! Register
Teen Cultural Potluck! – July 31, 1 PM
Teens should bring in a food dish from their or a family member’s culture. We’ll share what the food means to us and our families! Then we’ll share the food in a fun teen picnic! Please label all ingredients in food so we can account for allergies and dietary restrictions! Teens ages 12-18, registration recommended. Register

Dino Egg Bath Bombs – June 17, 2:30 PM
Teens can make colorful, scented bath bombs with a dino surprise inside! All materials provided. Ages 12-18, registration required. Register
Extinction Slime – June 24, 2:30 PM
Cause a volcanic eruption that turns into fun slime! Ages 12-18, registration required. All materials provided-and yes, you can keep the slime. Wear something you don’t mind getting a little messy. Register
Cyanotype Fabric Printing with Gingko – July 1, 2:30 PM
Create cyanotype sun prints on fabric and clothes using prehistoric plants – gingko tree leaves from right here in Nazareth. These trees, which you can see growing on Center St and around town, were around when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth! We’ll use them and other fun leaves and flowers to create unique sun prints on fabric! Ages 12-18, registration required. All materials and fabric is provided, but feel free to bring your own cloths to print on if you want – but they must be white/off-white and all natural fibers! Register
Egg Carton Geodes – July 8, 2:30 PM
Create colorful geodes (crystals inside rocks) using basic household supplies and egg cartons. This easy craft is for ages 12-18, registration required. All materials provided. Register
Traditional Cave Painting – July 22, 2:30 PM
Learn how ancient humans painted on rock walls by doing it yourself! We’ll be painting on a “cave” with traditional natural paints such as charcoal, saffron, and more, using our hands and hand-made tools. Ages 12-18. All materials provided, but wear something you don’t mind getting messy. Registration required. Register

A History of Nazareth in 10 Objects – July 9, 4 PM
Our archivist will share a brief history of Nazareth by showcasing 10 objects in our collection from Nazareth’s long and storied history, including things from Nazareth Hall, the Nazareth Community Band, the schools, and more! We’ll also show various historical photographs and documents going back centuries! Don’t miss this fun and interactive presentation! Register
