Borrowing Materials
Number of Items Allowed
Each patron may borrow 15 items at a time; there is a limit of 7 DVDs, including up to 2 new items, per household. The following items also have limits:
Video Games – 2 per person
Board Games – 2 per person
Museum Passes – 1 per household
Ukuleles – 1 per household, adult borrowers only, with signed borrower agreement
Wi-Fi hotspots – 1 per household, adult borrowers only, with signed borrower agreement
Loan Timeframe
You may borrow items for the following timeframes; items denoted with an asterisk (*) can be renewed.
- Books: 14 days*
- CDs: 14 days*
- DVDs: 7 days*
- Cake Pans: 7 days
- Video Games: 7 days
- Inter-library Loan Materials: 30 days past arrival date
- Museum Passes: 7 days
- Wi-Fi Hotspots: 7 days
- Board Games: 7 days
- Ukuleles: 7 days
Book Drop
Items become overdue the day after their due date, 30 minutes prior to the library opening. The outdoor book drop is open 24/7, and is located a few paces before the main building entrance. Board games, discovery kits, hot spots, and certain video items may not be returned in the book drop, and must be returned inside the building during open hours.
Renewing Materials
Not sure when your books are due? Log in to your account and check the due dates! Or, do you already know that date is looming faster than you can finish your book?
The Library offers auto-renewals. When your books (or other materials) are due, the Library will automatically renew them for you. If the materials cannot be renewed for any reason, you will receive an email notification asking you to return them.
Most items can be renewed as long as no one else has the item on reserve. There is a limit to 3 renewals per book, and 1 renewal per DVD.
You can also renew books from your home computer, or call the library (610-759-4932).
Steps to Renewing Materials on your Computer:
- Go to My Library Account
- Enter your Library Card Number.
This is the 14-digit number located at the bottom of your library card. - Enter your Password.
This is the last four digits of the telephone number you have on file. - Click the “Log In” button.
- Click “Items Checked Out.”
- Click the check box next to the item(s) you’d like to renew.
Or, click the check box next “Title” to select all items. - Click the “Go” button.
- Click “OK” when prompted to renew selected items.
Your new due dates will be listed!
Reserving Materials
Did you just hear about that great book everyone is reading? Or, maybe that DVD that seems to be checked out all the time? Go ahead and put it on hold from the comfort of your home!
Reserving Materials:
- Go to My Library Account
- Enter your Library Card Number.
This is the 14-digit number located at the bottom of your library card. - Enter your Password.
This is the last four digits of the telephone number you have on file. - Click the “Log In” button.
- Enter the name of the book or the author in the Search box.
- Click the “Search” button.
A list of books will be displayed. - Ensure you found the book’s desired format (e.g., book, large print book, audio CD, etc.)
- Click the “Place Hold” icon.
The Place Hold detail screen will be displayed. - Select how you would like to be notified when the book has come in for you.
- Click the “Submit” button.
A screen showing that your hold was successfully placed will be displayed.
Patrons may also call or tell a library worker in person to reserve an item for them.
Fines
The Library does not currently collect fines on overdue books.
If you have overdue materials, please consider leaving a small donation. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
The library will collect fines for overdue hotspots and ukuleles, and will charge a fee if cake pans are returned dirty.
Patrons who lose or damage an item they have borrowed will be charged the full price of the item. Refer to our Circulation Policy for details.
Lost & Damaged Materials
A registered patron is financially responsible for any lost or damaged item under his/her account, in addition to any incurred late fees.
- If an item is damaged, please contact the library immediately. Most items can be repaired in house for no charge. Items assessed as irreparable may incur a charge at the library’s discretion.
- If you think you may have lost an item, you can renew it up to 3 times to avoid an overdue account block while you look for it.
- If you are certain the item has been lost, please contact the library. Patrons with items marked lost on their account will be charged for the full price of the item. Patrons with unpaid lost item charges will be blocked from borrowing privileges unless they: pay the full price of the item; purchase their own replacement copy for the library; or locate and return the original item.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary loan is a service whereby a patron of one library can borrow books and media items that are owned by another library.
If Memorial Library of Nazareth & Vicinity or Easton Area Public Library doesn’t have an item you’d like, you can inquire at the main circulation desk to fill out the request form in person, or you can complete it online below.
Please note that Memorial Library of Nazareth & Vicinity participates in resource sharing with Easton Area Public Library. If an item is in the collection of EAPL, it will be placed on hold there and can be picked up at MLNV when available as if it were an item from the MLNV collection. Patrons can place holds on Easton items via the same method as placing holds on our items. To learn how to do so, please scroll up and click “Reserving Materials.”
Processing time varies and depends on: the availability of the item from another library, the availability of the item to ship via a postal service, and the length of time it takes for item to be processed at our library. You will be notified when the item has come in for you, average time to receive your item is two weeks to one month from request date.
Privacy of Library Records Policy
The Library specifically recognizes the confidentiality of records related to circulation of Library materials that contain the names or other personally identifying details regarding the users of the in accordance with Pennsylvania law, which states:
Records related to the circulation of library materials which contain the names or other personally identifying details regarding the users of the State Library or any local library which is established or maintained under any law of the Commonwealth of the library of any university, college or education institution chartered by the Commonwealth or the library of any public school or branch reading room, deposit station or agency operated in connection therewith, shall be confidential and shall not be made available to anyone except by a court order in a criminal proceeding.
